Listening to it now! Thanks for this... it's both interesting and amusing! Mick Fleetwood's 'rock star retirement home' sounds amazing! Can't wait to read your article on him. I'm so happy Playboy still runs the long form interview with musicians too! :)

I just turned 42. I grew up listening to music that seemed like it had meaning and did. But still to this day when TNT or Jailbreak comes on the radio, the DB's get cranked to distortion and the young boys riffs never miss. I get the same feeling I did when I was 14 years old. The part that sucks is ruining the speakers in that rental car. I feel like the music today has lost it's goals or passions of being acted out instead it seems scripted to the point of profit. The in your face bad boy boogie attitude is what makes AC/DC fans what they are. cause we can feel that energy and angst to kick em in the teeth so to speak. Just the other day my 9 and and 10 yr old kids where jammin with me to TNT in the car. I was satisfied to hear them singing along before I could get the chance. The fan base may never stop growing. Cause it's real. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Your book articulated all of the thoughts I have had about AC/DC since I began listening in the early to mid-80's. Very pure and unfiltered Rock and Roll in it's most basic form. A tremendous live band. One of the very few bands where it seems no one is seated throughout their shows. They made several perfect albums in a row from Powerage through For Those ABout To Rock. Not many bands can boast that. I loved Black Ice. It was my favorite AC/DC album in two decades. I could go on and on but it comes down to one thing: We can overthink it and theorize about it, but the tunes are great. Simple. Thank you Anthony.

I'd just love to add something that has been hunting me for years since I found out how to play the Young brothers' style: their playing is (italic) physical timing. Do you understand this Sir? Physical timing, yes sir. That's what there is to it.

Is it wrong for a 50 year old father of three to still be listening to AC/DC or should I just salute myself?

Interesting book. I just finished Slash's book. How about a book about Rush?

I am a big AC/DC fan myself; I received my copy of Let There Be Rock - the Deluxe Edition, and your comentary was so overwelmingly true ! This band has stood the test of time because of their sincerity and committment to their art - and it transends over to their legions of fans. One thing that should be noted : when Back in Black came out, it was at a time when Rock'n'Roll was on the backburner to a 5 letter dance-music, that I do not want to mention in the same paragraph as AC/DC. AC/DC slammed the doors open for Rock with that record's release - and it has remained opened since ! And they continue to influence and inspire...thank you, Sir for your writings. AND I just ordered your book, today, and am looking forward to an excellant read !
